The 2019 Chardonnay Ortswein semi-dry is clear and shows a delicate golden yellow in the glass. The first nose reveals fresh herbs and crisp apples. With air also subtle citrus notes.
In the mouth the semi-dry Chardo comes medium to strong with a present fruit sweetness and mild acidity. The 12.5 volts seem well integrated, but already give pressure. Exotic fruits, crisp apples, sweet mirabelle plums and dried herbs come to mind. The structure of mild acidity, subtle bitterness and very fine minerality is harmonious. The aftertaste is quite long and characterized by aromas of exotic and yellow stone fruits.
Best served at 10-12°C in a small white wine glass from now until 2023. As a food companion, try goat’s cream cheese on a summery leaf salad with a blossom honey vinaigrette. Or fennel salad with orange filets. Filet of poached freshwater fish on basil risotto with glazed apple slices is also a wonderful accompaniment.
