One vintage, two neighbouring vineyards, three wines in a package of six: a wine package can hardly be more exciting.
Top Rieslings from the Heerkretz have been known for some time, emphasising the minerality of the volcanic rock with delicate fruity notes and accentuated acidity. Classic, like our Riesling “Erstes Gewächs”, matured in stainless steel; pre-selected grapes, gently processed – a wine that stands for itself and for the site. Typical Riesling and yet with the special note of porphyry, which is only found on 1% of the vineyards in Rheinhessen.
If the less extract-rich third grapes are removed from this low-rainfall, rather barren site, an exciting concentration of minerality and juiciness emerges in the must. Hand-picked, whole cluster pressed and spontaneously fermented in barriques, our “Großes Gewächs” is created from a few rows of the same vineyard.
Our Siefersheimer Pinot Blanc grows only a few metres away. Also pre-selected and spontaneously fermented in barrique, it offers an exciting comparison to the two Rieslings. Just as intense, juicy, fruity and with clear, melting woody aromas, it reflects the distinctive location and the hot autumn in an exceptionally extract-rich wine.
A hot trio that is certainly unique and will remain so.
