Description
The 2018 Spätburgunder Spätlese trocken is clear and shows a strong ruby red in the glass, with purple reflections. The first nose reveals blackberries and heart cherry. After swirling, one finds a whole potpourri of pickled wild berries. With plenty of air also dried, hearty herbs.
In the mouth the Spätburgunder Spätlese presents itself dry and strong with a present fruit sweetness and for the grape variety mild acidity. The 13.5 volts have a strong effect, giving enormous pressure. Blueberries and sugared currants come to mind. The structure is solid, the acidity comes mild. The vintage was fully ripe, because there are hardly any bitter substances, but a discreet minerality from the Golden Horn vineyard. The finish is long and characterized by aromas of red-candied apple, blueberries and some lovage.
The Spätburgunder Spätlese from 2018 is quite powerful, which is typical for Rheinhessen in 2018.
Recommendations:

As an accompaniment to your meal, why not try: Himmel und Ääd, with crisp apples and properly smoked black pudding. Beef roulades or pulled pork with Bourbon BBQ sauce in roasted baguette will also be a wonderful accompaniment. The combination of delicate sweetness and pronounced tannin structure will shine here.
Gently processed, without animal additives and cross-flow filtered – therefore also suitable for vegans.
