Description
2021
Easy-drinking through and through: The 2021 Scheurebe. Slightly floral notes tickle the nose; in the mouth, a touch of acidity and minerality provide some freshness to the otherwise strong-sweet taste of yellow fruit, which is clearly the focus of this estate wine.
Anything goes here: spike with fruit, add ice cubes, spritz up. Not that its a must, but our Scheurebe is just uncomplicated. A wine that says with a wink: Hey you, have fun!
2018
Powerful with a distinct fruit sweetness and balancing acidity: Scheurebe Auslese 2018. Brilliant and with a delicate light yellow in the glass, with white golden reflections. The first nose reveals ripe banana and light caramel. With air you can also find dragon fruit and black tea. Later even wild flowers and hay.
In the mouth the Scheurebe Auslese presents itself strongly with clear fruit sweetness and balancing acidity. The 12.5% alc. are very well embedded and give the wine a lot of power – in the most positive sense. Sugared berries, orange blossoms and ripe figs come to mind. Despite its concise structure of fine acidity, subtle bitterness and slightly salty minerality, this wine does not focus on complexity but pure drinking pleasure. The Scheurebe from 2018 is extremely balanced. It has a lot to offer, as also the long reverberation knows how to inspire with aromas of peach, raspberry spray, candied fruits and dried herbs.
Sommelier recommendations:
Best at 9-11°C in a medium white wine glass from 2019 to 2029. As a food companion, try matured goat cheese with quince mustard or peach Melba. For those who like to experiment, I recommend braised leg of mutton with horseradish mango chutney and roasted baguette.
