Description

The 2018 Pinot Blanc Spätlese dry is brilliant and shows a bright golden colour in the glass, with silvery green reflections. The first nose reveals galia melon and pineapple. After tossing, one also finds ripe pear and lime. With plenty of air even sourdough bread, fresh from the oven.

In the mouth the Pinot Blanc presents itself dry and strong with clear extract sweetness and mild acidity. The 12.5% alcohol is well integrated and gives pressure. Crunchy pears, green bananas, crumbly red apples and basil come to mind. Here is also some complexity. With its delicate structure of mild acidity, subtle bitter substances and pronounced minerality, there are still aromas of salt lemon and lovage. The aftertaste is extremely long.

The wine is immensely balanced and very typical. A prime example of Pinot Blanc from Rheinhessen in 2018.

Sommelier recommendations:
Best at 11-13°C in a large Burgundy glass from 2019 – 2023+. Try it as an accompaniment: Grilled gilthead with asparagus risotto and sugar snap peas or leg of Bresse chicken on celery blueberry stew. This wine will also delight you when served with veal steak with cream morels.

Gently processed, without animal additives and cross-flow filtered – therefore also suitable for vegans.
